Severus Alexander (208–235 CE) ascended to the throne at a young age, following the assassination of his cousin Elagabalus. His reign was marked by efforts to restore traditional Roman values, strengthen the empire’s institutions, and maintain peace through diplomacy rather than constant warfare. The frequent appearance of Pax on his coinage reflects his policy of negotiation with foreign powers, especially along the eastern and Germanic frontiers, and his attempt to reassure the populace of internal stability.
